This program includes three of Beethoven’s well-loved pieces. His Symphony No. 6 was composed to express the beauty of nature and thus named “Pastoral.” Lars Vogt performs Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto, a piece Beethoven wrote for himself as soloist. The final piece was one of four versions of the overture to Beethoven’s only opera, Fidelio.
