"Scheherazade"
Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

The Hebrides Overture was inspired by Mendelssohn’s travels through Scotland and depicts “Fingals Cave.” The cadenza in Beethoven’s Concerto No. 2 was meant to showcase the composer himself as a pianist. Scheherazade musically illustrates the incredible story of One Thousand and One Nights with eastern melodies and virtuosic violin solos.
