Instructor: William Pfahl


Join Plein Air painter William Pfahl in painting our city’s urban landscape in this 2-hour painting session during the Three Rivers Arts Festival. William will demonstrate and explain the materials used and facilitate as participants engage in the activity as well as the steps necessary to paint outdoors using oils on canvas.

Meet in Point State Park

Each participant will need to bring:
An easel (bring umbrella if you have one)
Wear a hat
8x10 or larger canvas
Bristle brushes, sizes 2-12
Odorless turpentine or water for acrylics
Container for this substance (I use an old coffee can)
Paper towels, plastic bag for garbage
Oil paints:
- Titanium white
- Ultramarine blue
- Ivory black
- Cerulean blue
- Cadmium red light
- Cadmium yellow light
- Alizarin Crimson
- Cadmium lemon yellow
- Raw sienna
- Burnt sienna
- Windsor and Newton Liquin or Graham’s alkyd walnut oil
Don’t forget to bring water or beverage…it gets hot out there!
