PORTALS
Surprising, playful and provocative, the exhibition will highlight a unique selection of non-objective works by Group A Members. Using color, shape, size, scale, and, in some cases, the process itself, the featured artists share a language—both deeply personal and universal—grounded in the abstract.
BIOGRAPHY
Kate Lydon is the Director of Exhibitions at Contemporary Craft where she oversees all aspects of exhibitions at the main Strip District galleries and at the BNY Mellon satellite gallery in downtown Pittsburgh. Lydon received dual degrees in Art History and French at Denison University and her master’s degree from the Archival, Museum and Editing Program at Duquesne University. Prior to her 31-year tenure at Contemporary Craft, Lydon served as registrar for The Frick Art & Historical Center in Pittsburgh and exhibitions coordinator at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. Lydon has juried shows for The Ohio Craft Museum, Columbus; Florida Craft Art, St. Petersburg;Tennessee Arts Commission and Greater Columbus Arts Council. She has participated in jury panels for numerous organizations including Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art; The Society of Arts and Crafts Boston; The Massachusetts Cultural Council; Smithsonian Craft Show, Washington, DC and The Art League, Alexandria, VA.
