Lucas Meachem

American baritone Lucas Meachem is an internationally sought-after performer whose compelling lyric baritone voice and dramatic interpretations have led him to the world’s most important operatic stages. Hailed by critics for his “fluent, lyrical phrasing” (San Francisco Chronicle) as well as his “natural vocalism and theatricality” (Chicago Sun-Times), his 2014-15 season brings both new and signature repertoire to theaters across the United States and Europe. He begins the season in his debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic as Silvio inPagliacci at the Hollywood Bowl under the baton of Maestro Gustavo Dudamel. He reprises the role of Silvio later in the season in his return to the Metropolitan Opera for a new production of Pagliacci directed by Sir David McVicar. In February he appears in another new production for his role debut as Corigliano’s Figaro in The Ghosts of Versailles with the Los Angeles Opera. He stars in two returning productions this season at London’s Royal Opera House; in September as the title role in Il barbiere di Siviglia, and in May as Marcello in La bohème. Equally at home on the concert stage, Meachem collaborates with multiple artists this season, beginning in August when he performs with soprano Hei-Kyung Hong for a concert of arias and duets at Walt Disney Concert Hall. He then travels to the Czech Republic for a concert with tenor Joseph Calleja for the Haná Opera Festival in ProstÄ›jov.
